REf.# 09 0764 ~ Zhangjiajie, China
Zhangjaijie is a scenic area noted for over 3,000 tall quartzite sandstone pillars, some of which are over 2,600 ft. in height. Located in Hunan Province, it was dedicated in 1992 as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
An area of frequent rain and warm temperatures, the sandstone pillars of Wulangyuan are often “floating” within the clouds, a common theme in Chinese art. |
