REf.# 09 0931 ~ Zhangjiajie, China
Zhanjaijie is a scenic area noted for over 3,000 tall quartzite sandstone pillars, some of which are over 2,600 ft. in height. Located in Hunan Province, it was dedicated in 1992 as UNESCO World Heritage Site. An area of frequent rain and warm temperatures, the sandstone pillars of Wulangyuan are often “floating” within the clouds. When we first arrived at the edge of the canyon we could barely make out shapes before us. In several hours this was the clearest view we had from this overlook. At other views the mist improved slightly. |
